I just love to get away and go to a nice conference.
My family does this quite often.
We take a few trips a year to just get away and relax while at the same time growing closer as a family through helpful sessions at the conferences we attend. Usually, once a year, my husband and I get to attend a marriage conference without the kids with us. This is one of my favorite times of the year. Vince and I have truly found that these marriage conferences have been a great blessing to us, and they have helped to strengthen our marriage immensely. Last August, Vince and I took a trip out West for one of our favorite marriage conferences ever. We hadn’t been able to go to that particular conference for over five years, so we were really excited. The speakers at the conference certainly did an amazing job, and the material and tips that they gave us were so helpful. Unfortunately, they had trouble with the air conditioner in the building that they had rented, and the place was so hot that it was almost unbearable. Of course, they did the best that they could to try and keep the place cool enough, but it just didn’t work. I had to leave a couple sessions early just because I couldn’t stand the intense heat. I was seven months pregnant at the time, and the heat really carried some unpleasant smells that made me all the more uncomfortable. I was thankful that we were able to attend each session that we did, but I was even more happy to get to the hotel each night and actually have some nice air conditioning. I never realized how much not having air conditioning affects me.
