As a youth, I was most impressed by someone’s looks and their ability to seem cool. I don’t think that this is unusual, but it isn’t a smart strategy for long term relationships. This is how I wound up with a lot of useless and dramatic boyfriends. Down the line, I realized that it was much more important to date someone with practical skills and knowledge. You want a long-term partner who can carry their weight. That’s why, I preferentially date skilled tradesmen such as HVAC technicians. Not only do I find it extremely attractive to watch my boo fully service our forced air furnace or AC unit, but I enjoy the satisfaction that he gets from excellent indoor air quality and lower energy bills. We are always on the same page when it comes to thermostat programming, because he wants to take good care of our entire heating and cooling plan. I also never have to worry about performing the routine maintenance and diagnostics that are recommended by the HVAC dealership. I love having a real partner when it comes to our indoor air quality and utility management… And it doesn’t hurt that he can repair our heating and cooling equipment at the drop of a hat in case of emergency. If you want to keep dating frogs, go ahead. But let me tell you, in the long term there’s nothing sexier than a well-maintained HVAC system.
