Being in control makes my job easy

Being in control makes my job easy

For many years I simply hated my job.

It wasn’t the labor necessarily, it was dealing with a boss that controlled my every waking moment while I was there.

I had to abide by his schedule for lunch, getaway, and even overtime but now I am free of all of that. As a designer I wanted to be in control of my own schedule and build my own customer base. I took a opportunity and became a freelance designer and I will admit that the first year was tough. I had to take just about any job I could find and many of them were more labor than I anticipated. I built my reputation and now, three years later, I can support myself and I am in complete control over my hours and lifestyle. One of the things I cherish most about my job is the fact that I have a home office where I can set my temperature to my liking. The old boss I had never turned on the air conditioning until it was nearly ninety outside and my buddy and I would rest in our cubicles perspiring to death while trying to do our jobs. If my buddy and I would ask to take a chop to get some fresh air he would tell us that it wasn’t time for our tied up chop and my buddy and I would just have to deal with it. I undoubtedly don’t miss those nights and I have no regrets about leaving the corporate world to strike out on my own. I cherish my job again and that is what is most important. I labor in a comfortable setting and never have to ask for a chop again.
