Sometimes life kind of just hits you in the face with difficult decisions to make.
My husband and I were faced with a small but difficult decision to make concerning our home.
We purchased a beautiful home out in the country so that we could be closer to my parents who are older and need some extra assistance. Thankfully, we got the house for a really good price because it needed so much TLC. We worked hard to get everything done before winter, and surprisingly, we had most of it done by the beginning of September. One of the things that we had left was to purchase a furnace and install it as was well as some kind of air conditioning unit. At the time, we didn’t have the money for both, so we had to pick one to purchase then, and wait another year before purchasing the other. It was a difficult decision for us because it was still really hot outside in September, and it wasn’t going to get any cooler until the beginning of November, but at the same time, we needed a furnace for the winter months. The previous winter, my parents said that it was so warm that they never once turned on their furnace, so this fact made the decision making process so much harder. We ended up going with the furnace since it most likely would get cold enough to have to use it, and the last thing we wanted was to have the water pipes or something major freeze that winter. Looking back, I am thankful we made that decision because that winter was one of the coldest winters on record for our area.
