There are times in life that I get so inspired to be a good person.
I listen to a lot of podcasts, and there are some pretty inspirational sentiments to take the heart in the medium.
When you’re continually listening to NPR, I guess it starts to change you. That’s why I was recently feeling extremely generous and powerful to change other people’s lives for good. I was at a local hardware store, picking up a little bit of paint to spruce up my house, when I heard a young woman talking to a Salesman in the aisle. She was asking him over and over again what the cheapest options would be to repair a cooling system or to replace one entirely. The salesman was giving her a lot of attitude, saying that he wasn’t a professional HVAC technician and had no idea. He told her to go online and find a real professional to talk to you about her heating and cooling problems. It was clear that she was in a lot of distress and couldn’t afford to talk to a professional air quality control specialist, so I went over to see if I could talk to her. I don’t know much, but I do know a few things about heating and cooling. She explained to me that her AC unit has stopped functioning in the middle of the night, and her baby had not stopped crying since. She wasn’t able to afford a professional HVAC technician, so she was hoping to find a temporary solution to get through the 90 degree weather. as I listen to her story I knew that I could help. I took her over to my buddy’s HVAC shop, and bought her a brand new central AC unit for her home. I assisted the HVAC technicians with installing it to keep costs low, and she was able to finally get her baby to go to sleep.
