It’s unbelievable to me how immature grown humans can be. I’m surprised over and over again when people can’t act like reasonable adults or appropriate professionals after the age of 30. For instance, I’m not sure how my coworker gets away with admittedly eating and drinking himself into digestive upset, and that’s a legitimate reason to miss work. I don’t get it when my peers are still relying on mom and dad to pay the bills. And I will certainly never understand how two licensed professionals will get into a raucous fist fight in my basement while they’re supposed to be fixing my furnace. I was pretty unhappy yesterday morning when I realized that my heating system wasn’t working. It was pretty brisk in the house when I woke up, but I assumed that my heating system would be increasing the air temperature any moment. About an hour later, it was still too cold for comfort, so I went to check on the old furnace to see what was going on. Sure enough, the central heating system was not kicking into gear no matter what I tried. I decided to call a highly rated heating and cooling company from downtown and I was pleased when they arrived promptly to inspect my heater. I was less thrilled about an hour later when I could hear the HVAC technicians’ voices getting louder and louder from the basement, where they were supposed to be fixing the furnace. Before I had a chance to investigate, one of the air quality control specialists came tearing up the stairs with the other one at his heels. As they toppled into my kitchen, one HVAC technician over the other, I picked up the phone and called their boss at the heating and cooling company. At least I got a free furnace repair out of it.
