It isn’t even officially winter yet and I’m already over it.
This is probably because of the fact that our home is never really warm and no matter how hard I try I feel cold.
The problem has been getting worse over the past couple years and we really need to consider upgrading our insulation and our HVAC unit. My wife keeps telling me that we can’t afford it but I am the one who works from home and has to deal with the cold house all the time. Each morning she heads to her fancy office downtown that has a perfect HVAC system so she doesn’t seem to mind bundling up while she is home in the evening. I run a small home business and take care of the kids when they get home from school so I am forced to live that way all the time. I’ve even tried using portable heaters in the areas where I am working but it doesn’t seem to help that much. Because my wife earns much more than I do and controls how we spend the bulk of our money I have been working really hard to try to convince her that spending the money would actually save us in the long run. Are utility bills would be quite lower if we were to invest a bit of money in fixing up the house and making it less drafty. Installing a new HVAC system would also be more efficient and I have read that the newer technology uses up to 25% less energy which is a lot. I really hope that she comes around because I’m not sure that I can take another full winter in this cold house.
