The chill that would not end

When it comes to my preferred temperature it is around ninety with seventy percent humidity or higher. If you haven’t guessed, I am from the deep south where this type of weather is quite common. When I married my husband and we relocated to the Northeast I decided quickly that I would hibernate for the entire Winter season. In fact, I even keep the drapes closed during the day because I don’t even want to look at the snow and ice outside. It makes me cold when I do and I head right to the thermostat to turn up the heat. This practice is not ideal because it also makes our energy bill go up too. My husband decided that I needed a tropical room in the house so we are in the process of converting the attic into my own personal retreat. I feel like I have caught a chill that will not end so I am hoping that this space will be a solution to that. As heat tends to rise, the attic is warmer during the winter to begin with. It should be easy to install another heater in the area and use portable humidifiers to make the air feel more tropical too. Artificial sun lamps will be used to help grow lush green plants to add to the atmosphere too. The only problem that I can see with this conversion is the fact that I may not want to leave my space. I still have to venture out to the grocery shop, run errands for the kids and myself so I will have to tear myself away and endure the cold for those short periods of time.
