My Mom has a strict rule about turning on the heat at the beginning of each season; For some reason he decided that September 1st was the day that he would turn on the heat for the first time each year.
I think that this is ridiculous because my associate and I had really cold weather long before that even though he insists that he will not spend the extra money on heating the home prior to that date.
For this reason the entire family sits around freezing while our friends and neighbors are hot in their homes, however Mom says that simply lighting a fire in the fireplace is all my associate and I need to do to take the chill off of the home however it only works in the room where the fireplace is situated; Once you leave that space and head off to the study room or your home office it is downright cold. The funny part is that even the dog complains in his own way about being too cold because he refuses to leave the kitchen at the end of the evening. Mom has to drag his down the hall to their home office where he has his crate and he sits there whining because he does not want to be away from the fire. It is pretty poor when even the critters are complaining about it being cold and yet Mom will not turn on the heat. All I know is when I have a home of my own I will turn on the heat whenever I want and simply pay to run it because it is not worth being cold for no reason.
