For several years I simply hated my job. It wasn’t the work necessarily, it was dealing with a boss that controlled my every waking moment while I was there. I had to abide by his schedule for supper, getaway, and even overtime however now I am free of all of that. As a designer I wanted to be in control of my own schedule and build my own buyer base. I took a opportunity and became a freelance designer and I will divulge that the first year was tough. I had to take just about any job I could find and several of them were more work than I anticipated. I built my reputation and now, three years later, I can support myself and I am in complete control over my hours and lifestyle. One of the things I cherish most about my job is the fact that I have a apartment office where I can set my temperature to my liking. The ancient boss I had never turned on the a/c until it was nearly ninety outside and my pal and I would sit in our cubicles covered in sweat to death while trying to do our jobs. If my pal and I would ask to take a chop to get some fresh air he would tell us that it wasn’t time for our tied up chop and my pal and I would just have to deal with it. I actually don’t miss those afternoons and I have no regrets about leaving the corporate world to strike out on my own. I cherish my job again and that is what is most crucial. I work in a comfortable setting and never have to ask for a chop again.
